10th Primary School - Peristeri -Athens-Greece
Yesterday, our
school visited the Doras Stratou theater, which is located on hill
of Filopappou in Athens, and we watched the theatrical play “Plutus” (meaning “Wealth”). Plutus is an ancient Greek comedy by the
playwright Aristophanes. In this comedy Aristophanes parodies the poor
distribution of wealth. God Plutus is blind and is not distributed to the
virtuous but instead it is distributed randomly. Chremylos, an old Athenian citizen helps the
blind god Plutus to regain his light. Finally the God Plutus gives his wealth
to the good people and makes bad people poor.
Then we walked up to the Pnyka. The Pnyka was a place where citizens gathered in ancient Athens and had meetings to make decisions for the city.
